Clinical bioequivalence study
Nicotine Strips were developed with a high ambition concerning safety, stability and delivery. As part of the rigourous development work, a clinical study, approved by the Swedish Medical Agency, was conducted in 2012. It is a bio equivalence study, i.e. Nicotine Strips were compared to a reference product, in this case Nicorette® Pepparmint Oral Nicotine Spray.
The study included smokers and was performed at Capio S:t Göran’s Hospital in Stockholm, Sweden. The study confirmed that Nicotine Strips deliver nicotine as safely and quickly as Nicorette® Pepparmint Oral Nicotine Spray. When asked which product would be preferred for smoking cessation, 73% of the participants chose Nicotine Strips against 23% for Oral Spray. The study is available here:
